Jane Jakovac, who turned 102 on January 19, 2023, is a crafty resident of The Patriot, a Choice Community.
Jane’s charm ranges from her crafting of “friendship bags,” which she makes out of scraps sent by Mary’s Quilt Shop in Bedford, PA, to her brimming personality and many philosophies.
“Smile and let the world smile with you,” is one of her many life viewpoints that she shares.
She has been a resident for three-and-a-half years and attributes her sewing ability to her mother who taught her when she was young, according to Michelle Younkin, the Patriot’s Director of Marketing and Admissions. Jane continues to weave wisdom and bags.
According to Cody Armstrong, Personal Care Administrator at Schoolhouse Suites, the Patriot’s Independent Living facility: “Jane brings sunshine wherever she goes. Recently, for our personal care open house, she handed out her friendship bags to all those that attended.”
Along with handmade bags, visitors received wisdom from Jane’s favorite quotes, including: “Don’t worry about things you can’t do anything about,” and “Stroll along and don’t worry about things.”
